Morphology Tam Pattern
Knitted in the round, Morphology Tam is worked with a corrugated rib and stranded colourwork, designed to avoid a pattern jog at the beginning of the round. Instructions and charts are included for a regular tam as well as a slouchy tam.
Pattern sizesExtra Small(Small:Medium:Large) to fit 45½(51:56:61)cm / 18(20:22:24)in head circumference.
Finished head circumference
is 42(44½:51:57)cm / 16½(17½:20:22½)in; choose a size with 4–6½cm / 1½–2½in negative ease.
All sizes can be worked as a Regular (height 20cm / 8in) or Slouchy tam (height 26cm / 10in).
Yarn requirementsDesign shown knitted in Jamieson’s ‘Shetland Spindrift’ (100% pure Shetland wool) in two colours: 104 Natural White (MC1) with 688
Mermaid (CC1); and in eight colours: 603 Potpourri (MC1), 180 Mist (MC2), 104 Natural White (MC3), 350 Lemon (MC4), with 1020
Nighthawk (CC1), 688 Mermaid (CC2), 772 Verdigris (CC3), and 259 Leprechaun (CC4).
Two colour Regular tam: 1(1:2:2) balls each of MC1 and CC1.
Two colour Slouchy tam: 2(2:2:2) balls each of MC1 and CC1.
Eight colours and Colour Your Own:145-190m (160-205yds) CC and 160-195m (165-220yds) MC in total.
