Your Abs Are Strong. So Why Does Your Punch Land Like a Pillow?

From Dominic Paris, Knockout Coaching

You’ve done the work. The planks. The crunches. The hundreds of Russian twists at the end of every session. Your midsection looks like it belongs on a poster.

And your right hand still lands soft.

You throw a punch you know is perfect. Clean shape. Fast hands. Loud contact. And the bag barely swings. In sparring, they take it and keep walking forward.

I’ve watched that exact moment for more than 25 years, with amateurs, with pros, and with world champions I’ve prepared for title fights. Here’s what I tell every one of them:

You don’t have a work-ethic problem. You have a transmission problem.

Punching power starts at the floor. It travels through your legs and hips, gets caught and passed along by your core, and only then reaches your fist. Your core is the gearbox in the middle. When it leaks, the power your legs made bleeds out before it ever touches your opponent’s chin.

And most core training makes the leak worse, because it trains your midsection lying down, standing still and cut off from the ground. That’s nothing like a punch.

So I wrote The Knockout Core Engine, the exact system I use to turn hard work into heavy hands.

Inside, you’ll get:

  • A 30-minute power-leak test. Five simple tests that show exactly where your punch loses power.
  • A four-phase system. Stabilize, Integrate, Amplify, Apply. Each phase has clear exit tests, so you never guess when to move on.
  • A 12-week plan with retests and benchmarks. About 40–45 minutes of core work a week, built into the boxing you already do.
  • Power that holds in the late rounds, because your legs and hips carry the load instead of your shoulders.
  • Bonus chapter: The Fight Week Core Protocol. What to do in the final seven days, in the locker room and between rounds.

No 300-crunch circuits. No 45-minute ab routines. No “feel the burn.” Just a precise system built for one job: making your punches land with the weight they deserve.

It’s for amateur and pro boxers, coaches, and anyone who boxes for fitness and is tired of hitting a bag that barely moves.

The punch is already in you. Let’s go find it.

In your corner,
