DANA

DANA is a work for solo cello inspired by the floods that devastated Valencia. Rather than depicting the disaster itself, the piece seeks to transform into sound the emotional landscape left in its wake: the overwhelming force of nature, the silence that follows, and the traces it leaves on those who endure it. Written as part of my artistic project The Inherited Voice, DANA explores the cello beyond its conventional lyrical identity. For me, it was important that the instrument could reveal not only beauty, but also strength, rawness, and vulnerability. The work draws on an expanded palette of colors and textures, using them not as effects, but as an essential part of its musical language. This exploration of the cello's expressive possibilities lies at the heart of my compositional practice.
