About our course

CarePro+ is an online learning platform created to support caregivers and those caring for the elderly. The course focuses on practical knowledge, essential caregiving skills, and confident, compassionate care that can be applied in real everyday situations.

The CarePro+ course has been developed by Michelle Parbhoo, a qualified physiotherapist, with the aim of providing clear, accessible training for individuals working in care roles or supporting loved ones at home.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for caregivers working with older adults in home based care, residential facilities, or community settings. It is suitable for both new caregivers who need a strong foundation and experienced caregivers looking to refresh and strengthen their practical skills.


The course is also valuable for family members who provide care to elderly relatives and want guidance on safe mobility, transfers, and daily care practices.


No prior medical training is required.

Safe Transfers

This course teaches clear, step by step transfer techniques to help caregivers move clients safely and confidently. You will learn how to assist with bed mobility, sitting up, bed to chair transfers, toilet transfers, and floor transfers, using correct body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices.

The focus is on protecting both the caregiver and the person being cared for, reducing the risk of falls, injuries, and strain, while promoting comfort, dignity, and independence.

Course curriculum

CarePro+ is an online caregiver training course designed to equip caregivers with practical, evidence based skills for supporting older adults. Learners gain a solid understanding of common physical challenges experienced by the elderly, safe mobility practices, fall prevention, transfers, pressure care, and the importance of working within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The course is structured to build confidence, promote safe caregiving practices, and support both caregiver well being and client independence.



Module Guide

Module 1: Physical Impairments in Older Adults

An introduction to common physical conditions affecting older adults, including arthritis, osteoporosis, stroke, and dementia, and how these impact mobility and daily function.


Module 2: The Importance of Physical Activity

Explores the role of physical activity in maintaining strength, mobility, mental health, and independence, as well as the risks associated with inactivity.


Module 3: Promoting Physical Activity and Mobility

Practical strategies for encouraging safe movement, walking, exercise, and the use of assistive devices to support mobility and independence.


Module 4: Fall Prevention and Safety

Identifies common fall risk factors and provides practical methods to reduce falls through environmental changes, exercises, and safe caregiving practices.


Module 5: Transfers

Covers safe transfer techniques, including bed mobility, chair transfers, toilet transfers, and floor transfers, with a focus on injury prevention and dignity.


Module 6: Pressure Care and Positioning

Provides guidance on preventing and managing pressure sores, including positioning, skin care, and early identification of risk.


Module 7: Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Explains the importance of working with healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists and nurses to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.


Module 8: Applying Yourself as a Care Provider

Focuses on professionalism, working within scope of practice, and applying learned skills effectively to improve care quality and outcomes.


Final Assessment

A quiz assessment completed after the final module to assess knowledge and understanding of the full course content.

Care Provider Training

This online course is available for R360 and provides structured training designed to develop practical knowledge and confidence in patient mobility and transfers.

The course includes 8 learning modules supported by a comprehensive training manual to guide learners through the material. Participants will also have access to 8 instructional videos, where the course developer explains the PowerPoint content in greater detail. In addition, learners receive access to the PowerPoint presentations and demonstration videos showing safe transfer techniques.

The course developer is Michelle Parbhoo, a physiotherapist who has been practicing since 2012 with extensive experience in neurology and geriatrics. Her work has focused on supporting individuals who are facing challenges with mobility and helping them maintain independence and dignity.

To reinforce learning, the course includes two quizzes to assess understanding. After successfully completing the course requirements, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
