Adapted PE Soccer Unit: Levels A, B, C for Middle School and High School PE
Soccer works for almost everyone once the field gets smaller and the rules slow down. Walking soccer and end zone soccer changed how my mixed classes played. This unit builds those options into every lesson so nobody stands on the sideline waiting for a touch. For adapted PE teachers, general PE teachers with inclusive classes, and special education teachers who run PE, grades 6 to 12. Works indoors or outside.
• Teacher overview: what Levels A, B, and C mean, how I run the unit, and a 7 day calendar
• Equipment list (standard and modified) and a drawn field setup diagram
• Safety and inclusion notes with a student setup chart
• 7 one page lessons: dribbling, passing and receiving, shooting at targets, goalkeeping, defending and space, small sided games, and Class Cup day
• Every lesson has an objective, warm up, cue words, practice, a Level A/B/C table, a skill check, a teacher tip, and a cool down question
• 4 small sided game formats (walking soccer, end zone soccer, four goal soccer, everyone touches it), each with A/B/C rules
• A 5 station soccer rotation, a skill check rubric, and a class record sheet
• A Class Cup tournament chart and student self rate cards
I start on small fields with walking soccer so everyone gets touches before we add speed. Indoors I use slightly deflated balls so they stay low. Plan on 7 or 8 class periods with a station review day. Every lesson, station, rubric, and game page in this unit is new. Nothing is reused from my Adapted PE Lesson Plans, High School PE Lesson Plans, or Adapted PE Fitness Stations. The FREE Adapted PE Modifications Cheat Sheet works well next to it when you need a quick change on the fly.
