You must be at least 12 years of age to take part in SOMA Breathwork, and anyone under the age of 16 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

There are some cases where holding the breath or even breathwork as a whole is not advised. Breathwork and Intermittent Hypoxic Training (IHT) is contraindicated in the case of:
- Severe/critical diseases or infections
- COPD-II and COPD-III
- Organ failure or late-stage terminal illness
- Pregnancy
- Uncontrolled blood pressure (blood pressure that increases and decreases irregularly and even randomly)
- Cancer (Exception: your doctor gives you specific permission)
- If you have epilepsy, a pacemaker, or irregular heart beat (Exception: your doctor gives you specific permission)
Participants with any of these conditions can still participate if you feel fit to do so. You can still do the rhythmic breathing and maintain your focus on meditation and heart coherence and refrain from the breath holds.

The SOMA Awakening Breathwork Session combines rhythmic breathing and ancient forms of Kumbhaka Pranayama (breath retention) with music specially designed to take you to gamma level brain wave states. You will experience a 1 hour session that expands your consciousness, reprograms the subconscious and has been scientifically proven to improve your health.

Wear comfortable clothes. Ensure you are well-hydrated. All breathwork techniques should be done on an empty stomach, either first thing in the morning before breakfast, or at least 2 hours after a meal. You may also want to consider to be in a place where you will not be disturbed. Headphones and a blindfold may also enhance your experience.
