Stop guessing how many lengths to order. Type in the pieces you need, and this works out how many 6.5 m, 8 m or 12 m lengths to buy and exactly how to cut each one.

What it does

  • Buy list: shows lengths to buy for each material, with metres, kg and cost (when you add prices).
  • Cut plan: gives a diagram for every cutting pattern, e.g. "Cut 3 lengths like this", showing each piece, saw cut, end trim and leftover.
  • Saw kerf and end trim: both are allowed for on every length, so pieces don't come up short.
  • Offcuts first: enter what's already on the rack and it uses those before buying new.
  • Keep or scrap: set the shortest offcut worth keeping, and it lists the offcuts to label and put back.
  • More than one stock length: e.g. 6.5 m and 8 m, with how many you've got and the price of each. It picks the cheaper mix when every length has a price.
  • Fewest possible: when it can prove it's used the minimum number of lengths, it says so.
  • Built-in AU sections: 163 SHS, RHS and CHS sizes with kg/m and standard lengths from the Orrcon Steel Structural catalogue 2026. You can also type any other section and its kg/m.
  • Paste a cut list: e.g. "2400 x 4 Posts", or columns copied from Excel.
  • Printable sheet: prints the buy list and saw sheet with tick boxes, or saves it as a PDF.
  • Offline: a single file you open in your browser. No install, no account, no subscription, and nothing you type leaves your device. It works on phones and tablets too.

Who it's for

Fabricators, welders, boilermakers, gate and fence builders, and anyone ordering RHS, SHS or pipe by the length.

Good to know

  • It finds a very good plan but can't promise the best possible one on every job. It tells you when it has proved it's hit the minimum.
  • Cuts are treated as square. It doesn't allow for mitres, copes, bends or joined pieces.
  • The section data is from the Orrcon Structural catalogue 2026. Stock lengths and sizes vary by supplier, so check with yours. You can type over any figure.
  • It's a digital download: one HTML file plus a quick-start note.
