North Berwick is a beautiful seaside town on the East Lothian coast whose geography was shaped by volcanic activity around 350 million years ago. North Berwick’s most famous landmarks - Berwick Law, a conical hill overlooking the town, and the Bass Rock, an island famed for its seabird colony, are both remnants of this period. These geological landmarks are the inspiration for this cosy accessory set, knitted in local yarn which is sold in the town itself in Chandler’s shop on the High Street.

CONSTRUCTION & NOTES
Both pieces of this accessory set are worked in the round. The mitts begin with the cuff, with stitches set aside on waste yarn added halfway through the colourwork patterning for an afterthought thumb, which is worked in rib after the main mitt is complete. The hat is worked from the brim up to the crown. To help you make the most of your yarn, the main colour and contrast colours are switched between the mitts and the hat.
