Trailing lines of brioche stitches twine and divide as they travel along the bottom edge of this two-color shawl.

The Subdivide Shawl is worked on the bias from one tip to the opposite edge, making it possible to use up all or most of one’s yarn. This asymmetrical project begins with a few stitches. Increases in the garter stitch section along the top of the shawl are balanced by decreases at the bottom edge. There are also increases within the brioche border to make it grow along with the garter stitch.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl.

21 sts and 42 rows per 4” / 10 cm in Garter Stitch after blocking
