Mehndi is the term for the artistic ornamental body painting done with henna. Inspired by these henna tattoos’, the pattern flows from the cast-on to the edge.
The heart-shaped shawl is knitted from the top down. Starting with a few stitches, the playful pattern makes it easy to knit and at the same time versatile. At the end, the border is knitted sideways.
The pattern provides charted and written instructions.
I used a solid colour to best show the pattern.

Yarn
Colori Naturali Calypso (75% Blue Faced Leicester, 25% Mid Brown Masham; 400 m / 445 yards per 100 g)
• 2 skeins in Ruggine
170 g / 680 m / 744 yards used for the sample
Mehndi is a collaboration with Colori Naturali.
Needles
4.0 mm / US #6 circular needle (80 cm / 32” in length), or size to obtain gauge

23 sts x 36 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stocking stitch, after blocking

Mehndi ist der Begriff für die künstlerische ornamentale Körperbemalung mit Henna. Inspiriert von Henna-Tätowierungen fliesst das Muster vom Maschenanschlag bis zum Rand.
Das herzförmige Tuch ist von oben nach unten gestrickt. Das verspielte Muster, das mit wenigen Maschen beginnt, macht das Stricken leicht und gleichzeitig vielseitig. Am Ende wird der Rand seitlich gestrickt.
Das Muster enthält sowohl Strickschriften als auch schriftliche Anweisungen.
Ich verwendete eine unifarbene Wolle, um das Muster am besten zu zeigen.
