Wacky constructions aren’t usually my thing—I like knowing something is going to work out! But sometimes, an idea gets stuck in your head. I was minding my own business one day when suddenly an unbidden thought arose: could you make a triangle-shaped shawl starting from a square? I tried to forget about it because let’s face it: the only way to be sure was to knit an entire shawl and block it to see if it came out the right shape. But I couldn’t let it go. So I started sketching and swatching and once I was 99% sure the geometry was in my favor, I cast on for Bodie Island. Worked from the center out, it plays with a combination of fingering weight yarn and laceweight mohair, creating various textures with slipped stitches, Fisherman’s rib, and brioche.
