Sophia sat on the couch, nervously tapping her foot as she stared at the floor in front of her. There on the hardwood laid her boyfriend Jake, now no bigger than an ant after she had used the mysterious shrink app on her phone.
She had seen the ad online - "Shrinking simulator, $9.99!" On a whim, Sophia downloaded it, never thinking it would actually work. But when she pointed her phone at Jake earlier, there was a flash and a pop, and suddenly her 6'2" boyfriend was minuscule.
"Jake, can you hear me in there?" Sophia whispered, leaning down. A tiny voice called back.
"Sophia, what the hell did you do?! I'm like a bug! A tiny little bug!"
"I'm so sorry honey, I didn't think it would really work! I'll unshrink you, I promise. But mom will be home any minute, I have to hide you first."
Sophia scooped up the shrunken Jake and placed him in a nearby empty water bottle. She set it on the living room table, just as she heard her mother's car pull into the driveway.
"Oh no no no, she's here!" Sophia gulped. She raced to the door, opening it just as her mother Jenna was about to knock.
"Hi sweetie!" Jenna beamed, her round face breaking into a smile. She was wearing her favorite floral mini-dress, showing off her thick thighs. On her feet were clunky wooden clogs.
"Mom! Hi! I was just um, cleaning, yeah that's it..." Sophia said quickly, ushering her inside.
Jenna waddled in, her wide hips swaying. She plopped down on the couch with an "oof!" and kicked off her shoes. Her plump bare feet wiggled on the floor.
"Phew, I'm beat! Working at the office all day. I could eat a whole cow," Jenna declared, sighing. Her beady eyes swept the room.
Sophia's heart started pounding as she realized the water bottle sat right behind her mother. If Jenna got up and moved around, it was only a matter of time before she saw the miniscule Jake!
"I'll get you something to drink, mom!" Sophia squeaked. She dashed to the kitchen, her mind racing.
How could she possibly get Jake to safety without her mother noticing? She groaned, wishing she'd had the sense to just stomp him to death on the spot and be done with it.
But then - a shadow fell over her. Sophia whirled around to see Jenna looming in the kitchen doorway, her meaty arm outstretched... clutching the water bottle!
"Mom, what are you doing?! Give that to me!" Sophia cried, lunging for it.
But it was too late. Jenna had already unscrewed the cap. She peered inside, her brow furrowed.
"What's that in there? Something in the bottle, kind of looks like a..."
She tipped the bottle over and shook it - and out fell Jake! He tumbled to the tile floor, so small and helpless.
"AAAHHH!! MOM, NOOO!" Sophia wailed. "DON'T STEP ON HIM MOM! PLEASE!"
But Jenna was distracted by the tiny figure. Her weight shifted and her heavy clog clad foot began to come down...
"I'm sorry Babe!" she wailed. "I didn't see him, I swear!"
The clog slammed down - with a sickening squelch! A tiny red smear blossomed on the floor beneath. Jake had been utterly squashed by Jenna's foot, his body burst like a grape.
"Oh my god... oh my god..." Sophia whispered, her eyes wide with shock. She stared at the gory smear that had once been her boyfriend.
Jenna slowly lifted her foot, the sole now stained with Jake's blood and guts. Her pudgy toes curled in disgust.
"Get the mop. I'll clean this up," she said gruffly. "He's gone, sweetheart. I'm sorry."
Sophia nodded numbly. Her boyfriend was dead - crushed under her own mother's shoe, reduced to a tiny red splat. She knew things would never be the same...
