Moscow, 1962. The Cold War is a chessboard of ice and shadow. When a deep-cover CIA asset codenamed "Nightingale" falls silent from the heart of the KGB's infamous Lubyanka headquarters, the West faces a catastrophic intelligence breach.

And he has help from Ivan Volkov, Petrova's former controller and mentor—the man who molded her into a perfect KGB weapon.

From the opulent halls of a Leningrad ballet to a deadly game of cat and mouse aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway, Hawke and Petrova must navigate a web of suspense, intrigue, and mistaken identity. To save one life, Petrova must confront the sins of her past, and Hawke will have to decide how much of the woman he trusts he is willing to sacrifice for the mission.
