Reading Tracker and Reading Journal 2027

A reading tracker for anyone who wants to know what they read this year without keeping a notebook. Log each book once and the dashboard works out your books and pages against your goal, whether you are ahead of or behind pace, your books per month, your favourite genres and your top rated reads.

WHAT IT DOES

• Book Log: up to 300 books with title, author, series, genre, format (paper, ebook, audiobook), where it came from (owned, library, borrowed), pages or listening hours, start and finish dates, status (To read, Reading, Finished, Did not finish), rating 1 to 5 and notes. Days to read is worked out. A Check column tells you in plain words if something needs fixing, such as a finish date before the start date, text in the pages column or a date in the future.
• Year Dashboard: books finished against your yearly goal, pages against your page goal, hours listened, and your pace: ahead, behind or right on pace for today's date (or a date you choose). Also books needed a month to reach the goal, a books-per-month chart, books and pages by genre, by format and by where from, average rating, average days to read, your longest book and your top 5 rated books.
• Monthly View: pick a month and see every book you finished that month in date order, with pages, hours, days to read, rating and the month's totals.
• To Read: up to 200 books with priority (High, Medium, Low), where to get it and who recommended it. Up next lists your top 10, and the sheet tells you if a book is already in your Book Log.
• Series: the series you follow, how many books each has, how many you have finished and how many to go, counted from the Book Log.
• Loans and Book Club: who borrowed which book, when it is due back and how many days overdue it is, plus your book club meetings with the next one shown at the top.

• Your own editable lists: up to 20 genres, 10 formats and 10 "where from" options
• Clearly labelled SAMPLE data so you can see how it works: every sample title ends in (SAMPLE), and all titles, authors and people are made up
• Cream cells for your input, white cells that calculate. No macros, no add-ons.

HOW TO OPEN IT

• An .xlsx spreadsheet with no macros. Tested in LibreOffice Calc; not yet opened in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Open the .xlsx in your spreadsheet app.
• Start with the Start Here tab, clear the sample rows, then set your year and goals in Settings.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Digital download. No printed item is sent.
• Checked by recalculation.
• You type in every book yourself. It does not look up books, covers or ISBNs and does not connect to any website or app.
• A book counts towards your year when its status is Finished and the finish date falls in that year.
• Pace assumes an even spread of your goal across the year.
• Not affiliated with Goodreads, StoryGraph, Amazon, Google or Microsoft.
