Lori's Song

I'm Lori Foroozandeh and this is my true story.

This book entails the very beginning of my life as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, to escaping from a POW type camp in IRAN.  I was married to a terrorist and did not know it.  I went to Iran with him then found out you need your husbands written permission to leave the country.

 As I lived there for the next 4 years I slowly became ingrained to the culture, specifically that it's important to beat your wife regualary to show that your the man and in control.  My husband was a state sponsored terrorist, he would kill Iranian war vets so that the govt. wouldn't have to pay them or take care of them. 

In September of 2001 Mohammad and his friends would talk and they said that something was going to happen on 9/11.  Supposedly they didn't know what or where but that it would happen.  I tried calling home to warn them on the 9th, 10th and 11th and the operator said "NO INTERNATIONAL CALLS BEING PLACED AT THIS TIME".  On the day of the 12th my husband told me we had to return to the USA in case they retaliated against the middle east.  I did not know what for yet.  We went to the bus station and showed our passports, about 5-10 minutes later these troop carrier trucks pulled up, took me one way and my husband another (I've never seen him again, I get death threats but so far I haven't seen him).  I was blindfolded and put in a truck with several other people, we drove for about I'm guessing 4-6 hours.  We arrived at this fenced in compound with a little L-shaped building.  I thought we were taken by POLICE, so I demanded to use the phone, I heard "KUKOO AMERICAN GIRL" then got kicked in the head so hard I was unconsious ( which is the cause of my traumatic brain injury now).  For six weeks I was tortured, raped and starved with about 50 others.  This is my story of the life, the camp, and the escape.   WARNING:  It is VERY GRAPHIC!
