Hue Shift – Modular Crochet Shawl Pattern

Hue Shift is a modular crochet lace shawl made from long panels that are joined as you go. The construction is simple and flexible, which allows you to easily adjust the project and use it in different ways. By changing the number of repeats, you can turn this pattern into a narrow belt, scarf, wrap, shawl, throw, or even a placemat.

The sample shown is designed as a wearable wrap and consists of four sections. Its finished size is approximately 180 cm / 70.9 in long and 55 cm / 21.7 in wide. It can be styled in different ways and worn with or without a belt or shawl pins.

Yarn & Gauge

This pattern is suitable for a wide range of yarns, so you can use your stash or plan your own color combinations.

The sample is made with fingering weight hand-dyed yarn Single Sock Superwash Merino by Hue Loco using 10 shades to create a smooth hue shift. A 2.5 mm (C-2) hook was used.

Gauge: 22 dc and 10 rows = 4 x 4 in (10 x 10 cm)

The pattern includes detailed yarn requirements broken down by color and by section if you want to recreate the original version. This can also be used as a guide when substituting yarn. A detailed color layout is included to show how colors are distributed across the panels.
