I live in rural Lincolnshire, in a small village on the edge of the Wolds. My part of Lincolnshire is renowned for its big skies and lovely landscapes and this pattern, which is part of my Lincolnshire Shawlscapes series, reflects the history of the arable land which surrounds my village. Nestling just near the northern end of the Wolds is the small village of Laceby, which seemed the obvious name for my first lace design shawl!

The shawl itself has a finished size of approximately 180 x 50cms. It’s a gently curved shawl, worked from the centre outwards. It uses a very simple lace pattern to produce soft, curved lines and is finished with a cast off lace edging to produce a gentle, misty pattern reflecting the frosty fields in the valleys below as you travel over the Wolds.

This shawl takes 2 x 100 gms balls of 4 ply yarn (400m/100 gms). I used two balls of yarn from Wool is the Answer (www.woolistheanswer.co.uk) in Winter’s Night.
