Popcorn Horror Digital Magazine - October/Halloween 2016 Issue

This Halloween, Popcorn Horror promises a digital magazine packed with inspiring independent horror content. Our bi-monthly magazine has reached it’s third issue in time for the spookiest month of the year and features a diverse range of features, interviews, art, reviews and more.

Our cover features two of horror’s greatest Halloween icons. The wonderful illustration was created by Tony Riley, and we think it really embraces the spirit of old-school horror and monster magazines!

Popcorn Horror is proud to be hosting interviews with two established horror musicians, who talk about the role horror has played in their music. Louise Keay Bell chatted with shock-rocker Marilyn Manson about his views on what makes a great horror film. Getting into the Halloween spirit, we also chatted with FIGURE, creator of the spooky soundtrack for Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.

Staying in the spirit of the season, Popcorn Horror regular RJ Bayley has a couple of great Halloween features in store for you. He’ll be providing the perfect party playlist for horror fans, as well as reviewing Marc Roussel’s independent short The Last Halloween. There’s even more to look forward to for indie film fans! Oliver Park, director of Vicious and Still, talks filmmaking and the directors of the Third Eye Film Festival give us another perspective on the indie horror scene. We’ve also hand selected the 13 best new indie horror shorts you can watch online – perfect for squeezing in pre-Trick or Treating.

Art lovers also have plenty of features to check out, including the latest comic from Rik Jackson‘s Rock in Purgatory (R.I.P). Popcorn Horror’s favorite  creepy kid BLAIRE will also be making an appearance in a Halloween special from  Sarah Allan. We’ll also be sharing the works of our talented local horror art community, who are coming together for our first major event – the Glasgow Horror Festival

Beautiful and haunting images will also be on show, in another fantastic piece from Louise Keay Bell about eerie abandoned locations and urban exploration. Plus Kriss Pickering shares his life in horror in Diary of a Horror Nerd, as well as offering a collector’s opinion in an in-depth review of NECA’s Trick R Treat figure. Also lending their horror expertise to this issue is established reviewer Patrick Ricketts, who has contributed to a number of horror publications and will be sharing his thoughts on two more modern Halloween film offerings. We’re also thrilled to be welcoming The Slaughtered Bird writer Stephen Harper to the magazine with his reviews of Space Goat’s Evil Dead comics.

Horror entertainment gets some representation here too, with drag queen and mistress of macabre Lacy Rain, plus our festival musical acts The Brothel Corpse Trio and Horror Boogie Records weighing in.

It’s an issue that should keep you entertained all the way to Halloween – and we’re extremely proud to share it with you! Happy Halloween.
