Laurent de Rillé (1824–1915) was a French composer and conductor active during the Romantic period, known for his contributions to choral music and operetta. Though not as widely recognized today, he was a prolific figure in 19th-century French musical life, particularly in the realm of amateur and educational music-making.
Sous les bois (In the Woods), was originally secular part-song published around 1870 and reflects the Romantic era’s fascination with pastoral imagery and expressive harmony.
