Alexandre Guilmant (1837–1911) was a renowned French organist and composer, celebrated for his contributions to Romantic organ music. He was a professor at the Paris Conservatory and co-founded the Schola Cantorum de Paris. His compositions, particularly his organ works, are known for their grandeur and expressive depth.
One of his notable pieces is Wedding March, Op. 77, No. 2, also known as Souvenir de la Marche de Procession. Originally composed for organ, this piece has been arranged for various ensembles, including wind quintet and brass quintet. It captures the solemn yet joyful essence of a wedding procession, making it a popular choice for ceremonies.
