Fixed-Media Electronics (stereo): the fixed-media electronic part is on the accompanying CD which must start playing simultaneously with movement IV . This part should sound through two loud speakers spatialised according to the performance layout on the following page. There is no specific volume for the fixed-electronic media part; however, a general dynamic balance with the acoustic instruments should be aimed for.

Trumpet Bb I & II: the required mutes are: bucket mute

Percussion I: Tam-tam (no specific size, but similar to the size used by percussionist II); wood block; tom-toms set (x4); bass drum; 28 ̎ timpani (F2-C3); tubular bells; cymbal; piano. Percussionist I also requires 2x tam-tam mallet; 2x hard-headed beater; 2x wooden drumstick; 2x bass drum mallet; 2x timpani mallet (medium); 2x tubular bells mallet; 1x double bass bow.

Percussion II: Tam-tam (no specific size, but similar to the size used by percussionist I); snare drum; bass drum; 32 ̎ timpani (D2-A2); vibraphone; piano. Percussionist II also requires 2x tam-tam mallet; 2x wooden drumstick; 2x bass drum mallet; 2x timpani mallet (medium); 2x medium-headed beater; 1x triangle beater/stick; 1x double bass bow.

Additional note for percussionists: both percussionists are required to play the piano as if it were a percussion instrument (i.e. no traditional piano skills are required); the piano must be situated between percussionists I and II (see the performance layout on page 3) and the lid must be up or removed; if at all possible (depending on type of piano used) the piano damper pedal must be depressed throughout; therefore, a weight or wedge (such as a door stop) can be used to depress the pedal. If this is not possible, then follow the directions for employing the damper in the score.

Electric guitar: the guitarist requires a plectrum, Ebow, and sponge (any household sponge is acceptable). When ‘distortion’ or 'static' is requested, the guitarist is allowed to create distortion or 'white noise' (respectively) in the manner most convenient to them (for example, this could be with pedal and/or amplifier).
