The Feelings Room | Interactive Therapist-Guided Feelings Tool (Ages 6-10)
The Feelings Room
An Interactive Therapeutic Activity Room for Children Ages 6–10
A place to notice. A way to express. Every feeling has room here.
Helping children talk about feelings often begins with giving them different ways to show what is happening inside.
The Feelings Room brings emotional learning, creative expression, guided reflection, and therapeutic play together in one interactive, browser-based resource. Designed for therapists to explore alongside children, it offers opportunities to talk, draw, point, imagine, practice, or pass.
Use it to introduce emotional concepts, explore a recent experience, practice asking for support, or bring structure and creativity to an ongoing session.
Explore seven interactive stations
- Check-In Window: Use weather imagery to explore feelings, different settings, and how emotional experiences can change.
- Feelings Mirror: Build feeling vocabulary, explore mixed emotions, and notice the difference between outward expressions and internal experiences.
- Body Clues Poster: Explore physical sensations that may accompany feelings, with body noticing always optional.
- Story Shelf: Use fictional characters and situations to explore perspectives, separate facts from guesses, and practice curiosity.
- Expression Table: Give feelings shape and color through drawing and creative expression.
- Needs Cabinet: Explore what might help and practice communicating needs and requests.
- Leaving Board: Reflect on the session and choose what the child wants to carry forward.
Learn, practice, and play
Each station includes short teaching content, guided practice, and a game. Rotating questions and activity variations offer different ways to revisit familiar themes across sessions.
The additional Play Annex includes five original games:
- Build My Feeling World: Create a meaningful space through imaginative building.
- The Character Studio: Design a character and explore what it wants others to understand.
- Big Feeling Quest: Practice responding to everyday emotional challenges.
- Feelings Neighborhood: Explore stories and feelings through a two-player board game.
- Big Feelings Expedition: Work together in a cooperative board-game adventure.
Children can explore through fictional examples without being required to share personal experiences.
