ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Selaron Cardigan was inspired by the mosaic steps of Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro, from the Chilean artist Jorge Selarón.
This super oversized, drop shoulder cardigan calls for worsted weight yarn and has a unique and unexpected construction: the first piece worked is the big-statement cabled panel of the back. Stitches are then picked up and cast on for both sides and worked in garter stitch with decreases to shape the shoulders. The sides are joined, leaving an opening for the sleeves that are worked in stockinette in the round to the cuffs. Then stitches are picked up again for the collar on both sides of the front and the back neck, starting at the corner bottom edge of the left front. Lastly, an I-cord is worked for a neat finish.

NOTE: Interchangeable needles with cord connectors are recommended to accommodate all stitches for the collar and I-cord edge comfortably. Use a double pointed needle or only an interchangeable needle tip to work the I-cord edge more comfortably. Consider using a stitch stopper at the end of the needle tip/cord when working the collar and I-cord edge to guarantee the stitches will remain on the needle.
