"Valse Sentimentale" for Flute Duet and Piano
Valse Sentimentale is in ternary form, in 3/4 time and romantic in nature
The first section is a gentle waltz in A minor and the second section by contrast is in F major and takes on a barcarolle like quality but remaining in 3/4 not the traditional 6/8. It returns to section one again and the coda brings back a short reminder of the barcarolle theme in A major to finish.
The range of the flutes are around two octaves with the top note- top F appearing once.
Each part is equally divided to avoid the 1st flute and 2nd definition.
I have set it to early intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess.
It would work well for a variety of occasions. It is around 5 mins 50 in length
Clarinet duet, Oboe duet, Alto Sax duet and Violin duet and Solo Piano versions are also available
