The ridged texture of this round-necked cardigan makes this a cozy, insulating cardi that’s perfect for keeping your little one warm. When worked in a self-striping yarn, the colourful stripes play off the horizontal lines of the stitch pattern.
This cardigan is worked bottom up, in pieces, and seamed. It has modified set-in sleeves with a short sleeve cap. Shoulders are joined using three-needle bind off. Worked in a welt stitch pattern that plays delightfully with the stripes in the self-striping yarn. Stitches are picked up along the front edges and neckline to create a rolled edging.
This knitting pattern includes written directions, a colour chart for intarsia stitch pattern and written instructions, detailed yardage requirements for each intarsia bobbin/sections, instructions for both right and left front button placement, a schematic with measurements, and thoughtful details.

Substitution Notes
Choose a fingering weight/4-ply yarn with easy care instructions. Superwash wool and sock yarns (whether wool or cotton blends) will work wonderfully. The self-patterning yarn may be substituted with a solid colour, a variegated yarn, or a gradient yarn, all creating a different effect.
