Brujería means witchcraft, which is just what it will seem like when you use simple slipped stitches to create this stripe-y, colorful shawl. Worked from the top-down, Brujería uses two contrasting yarns and three simple stitch patterns to create a generously-sized heart-shaped shawl. It’s the perfect project to show off that variegated, speckled or striped skein in your stash. Best of all, it’s easily adjusted—no math required, you can work more or fewer repeats of any of the stitch patterns used to create the shawl size that’s right for you.

Finished dimensions: Approx. 70”/198 cm across top edge and 24 ½”/62 cm deep at center.

Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, blocked
Exact gauge is not essential, but any differences in gauge will impact the finished dimensions of the shawl, its drape, and the amount of yarn used.

Yarn: Forbidden Fiber Co. Fortitude, 100% Superwash Merino, 435 yd/4 oz (400 m/100g): 1 skein each in Smoke Signal (MC) and Clan Fraser (CC).
Or approximately 850 yd/777 m fingering weight yarn in 2 colors: 425 yd/388 m each of MC and CC.
Your main color should be a solid or tonal yarn, while your contrast color can be more variegated, if you desire.
Please note that the sample shawl used each skein almost entirely; if you choose a yarn with less than 425 yd/388 m per skein, or if you work your shawl at a looser gauge, you will need 2 skeins of each color.

Needles: US 5/3.75 mm 32”/80 cm+ circular needle, or size to obtain gauge
