From the smoky harbor bars of Jacques Brel's Amsterdam to the sunny beaches of Michel Jonasz's childhood holidays, Mélodies de la mer weaves four beloved French chansons about the sea and the ocean into one colorful, flowing medley. Nostalgia, storms, island dreams and summer memories follow one another in a journey full of contrasts – by turns powerful, tender and joyful. Arranged with care for saxophone quartet, the medley makes the most of the ensemble's palette of colors, passing the melodies from voice to voice and linking the songs with seamless transitions. A wonderful centerpiece for any concert, and an affectionate tribute to French chanson.
