Disquiet the Heavens

Feeling is magic on the world of Ebstaxan, and magic is feeling. Jerius Xandith is on the path to becoming a Stellar Knight, individuals whose entire lives are devoted to understanding and channeling feeling in order to tap the power of the Soulful Waters, enabling them to defend and support their people, the vor-len, both physically and spiritually. But when a seemingly random encounter with a prestigious draconic visitor throws Jerius's senses askew, causing him to begin not only feeling, but also seeing many things which passed beneath his notice for most of his life, he must begin reassessing not only his personal place in the world, but the situation regarding the wider reality, which had previously been one of almost complete peace and sublimity, as his people contemplated the stars for truth and focused on loving each other hard and deep. But people are now dying, outside of the perpetual skirmishes with his people's self-proclaimed enemy, the prak'kan. Ships are going missing. Monsters are being seen, and also ehlves, his people's "cousins", who once held the vor-len in thrall on the far off Mainland. Jerius must choose between continued ignorance and complacency and a sterile, gray life, as opposed to risking tumultuous emotions and perhaps even bodily harm, if he wishes to discover the truth about who -or what- is seeking to disrupt the harmony his people struggled so hard to cultivate and make reality.
