I must explain at the book’s beginning that it is difficult to cover all aspects of traveling by rail in one book as each country and region has its own definitions, types of rail travel, and options. For instance, the types of trains in Europe often vary with each country, although high speed trains traveling between European countries are often of the same category. I have ridden tens of thousands of train miles all over the world and have used my and my friend’s experiences to better explain rail travel.
