About the Author

Gerald Fuller, CTC, has been exten­sively traveling the world for more than fifty-five years, been around the world thirteen times, and visited nearly every recognized country, many of them tens of times. He has rented hundreds of cars, flown more than nineteen million commercial air miles, ridden thousands of rail miles, enjoyed more than eighty-five cruises and types of water travel, stayed in hundreds of hotels worldwide ranging from zero to six star ratings, traveled independently throughout the world doing some dangerous and outrageous things and loving every minute of it, taken hundreds of Fully Independent Travel (FIT) and Escorted tours, and whitewater and sea kayaked, mountain biked, and hiked mountain trails worldwide.

 

He entered the travel industry more than forty-five years ago and has held numerous positions including being a travel agent for over eleven years specia­lizing in internat­ional, deluxe, and exotic adventure FITs, escorted tours, and cruises and escorted over one hundred tours worldwide. He has presented more than a hundred travel-related workshops and seminars worldwide for travel organiza­tions including American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA), International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE), and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and national travel agencies including AAA and Carlson Travel Network.

 

He served on the cur­riculum and advisory boards of and taught travel and tourism seventeen years at Houston Community College and Austin Community College in Texas and taught travel and tourism at The University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, for eighteen years. He received B.A.s in Advertis­ing and Public Relations and minors in Business Management and French from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. He is the author of several travel industry texts including Travel Agency Management and Tour Wholesalers-The Role of Tour Wholesalers and co-authored several others. He has written the following books for the general public:
