I wrote Tour Operators-What You Need to Know about Tour Operators so you can understand the need, purpose, and role that tour operators, tour wholesalers, and tour companies play in the travel industry. All three of these terms mean the same thing and are used interchangeably, but to keep it simple, I will refer to them as tour operators in the book.

Traveling is going somewhere away from your home for any length of time and experiencing something different from the way you live. A tour is organized, prepaid traveling that at a minimum includes the following: accommodations, transportation, and sightseeing. Tours can range in price from low, low budget to extremely expensive. They can last from one day to many months. Regardless of tour price and length, a main goal should be to get away, relax, and learn something that will make your life better even if subconsciously, and hopefully become a better person by being exposed to different geographical areas, cultures, and people.

The number and type of tour operators worldwide have increased tremendously during the last decade and are still increasing, so it is important you have a basic understanding of their function and purpose to avoid possible problems.

Tour operators arrange, reserve, and include various travel elements such as hotels, sightseeing, transportation, and meals into pre-paid, easily selected travel packages that are offered through travel agents or online for the general public. Many tour operators specialize in Flexible Independent Travel (FIT) travel that includes anything the client wants for his or her vacation.

This book also discusses how tour operators are organized and operate, how they determine which products they sell, how they price their products, legalities, and many other topics so that you can better understand how they operate.

Tour operators play a major part in the travel industry. Not only do they represent many suppliers including restaurants, sightseeing tours, accommodations, and cruises, they make traveling simpler and often less costly for the traveler. Travelers can obtain their expected vacation by knowing the type of traveler they are which is discussed in the book for their specific trip and how to utilize a tour operator to increase their success.

To happy and less complicated travels! Consider using a tour operator’s packaged tour for your next vacation.
