How to Create Your Telegram Bot and Get Chat ID

Follow these steps to set up your own Telegram bot and connect it with the NinjaTrader Telegram Price Alert indicator.

1. Create a Telegram Bot

1. Open the Telegram app on your phone or desktop.
2. Search for BotFather (this is the official Telegram bot management account).
3. Start a chat and type:
4. /newbot
5. BotFather will ask for a name → e.g. MyTradingAlertsBot.
6. Then it will ask for a username → must end with bot (e.g. MyTradingAlerts_bot).
7. Once created, BotFather will give you a Bot Token, something like:1234567890:ABCdEfGhIjKlMnOpQRsTuVwXyZ

👉 Copy this token – you will need it in NinjaTrader.

2. Get Your Chat ID

You need the Chat ID where the alerts will be sent. There are two options:

Option A: Personal Chat ID

1. Start a chat with your new bot.
2. Send any message (e.g. “hi”).
3. Open this link in your browser (replace BOT_TOKEN):
4. https://api.telegram.org/botBOT_TOKEN/getUpdates
5. Look for "chat":{"id":123456789} → this number is your Chat ID.

Option B: Group Chat ID

1. Create a new Telegram group.
2. Add your bot to the group.
3. Send a test message in the group.
4. Open the same link:

6. Find "chat":{"id":-123456789} → negative numbers indicate a group Chat ID.

3. Enter Data in NinjaTrader

1. Import the indicator in NinjaTrader.
2. Add it to your chart.
3. In the indicator settings, paste:

• Bot Token
• Chat ID
