Local Area Study LKS2

Discover how people learn about religion and belief in the real world through this enquiry-based case study. Pupils are introduced to key methods and skills from the human and social sciences, helping them investigate and understand the religious and non-religious worldviews present within their own local community.

Designed for Lower Key Stage 2 pupils, this engaging case study builds on Key Stage 1 learning about key religious and non-religious beliefs, values, and the ways in which these influence people’s lives. Through exploration, discussion, and investigation, pupils deepen their understanding of how we find out about people’s beliefs, experiences, and ways of living.

Part of a wider study of worldviews, this resource introduces pupils to the tools and approaches used by researchers to understand religion and belief, helping them develop curiosity, enquiry skills, and a deeper appreciation of the diversity within their local community.
