Developed by the Lincoln Diocesan team, this is a new resource designed to support church school leaders to implement effective processes for school development, monitoring, self-evaluation and improvement. It links directly to both SIAMS and Ofsted (2025) accountability frameworks.
This resource provides tools to support:
- Leadership through the vision in all strategic and operational work
- Effective processes for monitoring and evaluation for leaders and governors
- Tools to support self-evaluation against the new Ofsted Toolkit and SIAMS framework
- Resources templates to support the monitoring process including for subject leaders
- Guidance for governors including those in specific roles such as Governor for Special educational needs, Pupil Premium, RE and Collective worship.
Useful templates, proformas and questions to support monitoring for an effective church school are included throughout.
This resource is accompanied by two spreadsheet documents. These provide templates for self-evaluation against Ofsted (2025), the SIAMS framework and materials to support strategic and annual development planning. A further example of a template for a Head Teacher’s report to governors is also included.

About Us
At the heart of the Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education’s vision is a commitment to enable children and young people to flourish in education and in life, inspired by the example and teachings of Christ. This vision shapes every aspect of our work: from nurturing leaders who can serve with wisdom and compassion, to resourcing schools so that they are places of belonging, excellence, and hope. As part of this, we create resources to support Church school education, helping staff and pupils engage deeply with faith, learning, and community. Whether through developing high-quality RE, equipping governors and staff, or offering guidance on school improvement, the team works in partnership with schools to ensure that the distinctively Christian character of Church of England education continues to enrich the lives of pupils and communities across Lincolnshire.
