[SPH] Murata Type 22

The Murata Type 22 is a Japanese bolt-action rifle adopted in 1882 and used by the Imperial Japanese Army during the late 19th century, particularly in the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). It is chambered in 8×53mmR Murata, a rimmed cartridge developed specifically for the rifle. The Murata Type 22 features a 5-round internal magazine and uses a bolt-action mechanism.

With a 730mm barrel and an overall length of approximately 1,250mm, the Murata Type 22 weighs around 4.1 kg, making it heavier and more cumbersome compared to later bolt-action rifles. The rifle operates with a cock-on-open bolt system, and it uses a rotating bolt action, similar to the Mauser-style design that would influence later rifles worldwide.
