[SPH] Winchester Model 1897

The Winchester Model 1897 is a pump-action shotgun designed by John Browning and introduced by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1897. It was one of the first successful pump-action shotguns and quickly became popular for both civilian and military use.

Chambered primarily in 12 gauge, though also available in 16 gauge, the Model 1897 features an exposed hammer, a tubular magazine under the barrel (typically holding 5 rounds), and a slam-fire capability—allowing the shooter to fire a round by simply holding the trigger and pumping the action. This feature made it particularly devastating in close-quarters combat.
