First Class Illusion - PDF knitting pattern
This illusion is based on a first class British postage stamp. Using DK yarn and 3 mm needles the completed illusion measures approximately 32 inches (80 cm) by 27 inches (68 cm) and uses about 460 yards (420 metres) of yarn in each of two colours. It can be made in any yarn though this might change the overall size.
It is designed to be viewed from the side. When you look from the side you can see the image. When you look from directly in front you only see narrow stripes.

Some years ago our original First Class was bought by Ripley’s Believe It or Not. One of the photos was taken when we finally got round to seeing it in situ. It was very difficult to get photos due to the strange lighting in the room.
