Slavic religion - Slovenska religija - Словенска религија

Slavic religion represents the religious principles, myths, and ritual practices of the Slavs, before accepting Christianity. The Slavic religion was polytheistic, with many deities, such as Perun or Svarog, but also a wide range of mythological beings, which is still believed in some parts of the so-called Slavic world. Although much time has passed since baptism and, although all (today's) Slavic states are mostly Christian, many elements of the old Slavic religion have been officially incorporated into Slavic Christianity, and also, the worship of Slavic gods has been maintained in the unofficial folk tradition, to this day. Many ritual songs or customs on the great Christian holidays, which are practiced today, have their roots in that old religion of our ancestors. Many Christian saints, who are celebrated today, have taken over the characteristics of certain Slavic deities, and, based on that, it can be said that the Slavic religion still lives and exists, through that Slavic Christianity.
