Great Northern Hat

Whether you're trekking through mountain trails or strolling through the village square, you’ll stay toasty in this lush merino wool cap. The Great Northern Hat comes in two charming styles: one adorned with a foldable brim and pompom, and another with a timeless classic brim.

The finished hat has a 16¾ (19¼, 21½)”/ 42.5 (49, 54.5) cm circumference and is 7¾ (8¾, 10)”/ 20 (22, 25)cm deep (when brim is turned up halfway for Folded Brim Version.) To fit with ~ 1½”/4cm negative ease. 

Materials:

Polka Dot Sheep Great Northern, Super Bulky Single Ply, 100% Merino wool, 89y/ 81m; 150g/ 5.3 oz. 

For the Classic Brim Version, shown in Sawtooth, 1 (1, 2) skein(s); for the Folded Brim Version, shown in Tupelo Honey, 2 skeins. 

Tools:

US 15 (10mm) 16”/ 40cm circular and double pointed needles or needle size necessary to obtain gauge; US 11 (8mm) 16”/40cm circular needles, or 2mm smaller than gauge needle; stitch marker; extra large pompom maker (optional); tapestry needle.

10 sts/17 rnds over 4”/10cm in main body pattern blocked.
