You already know how to budget. That's not the problem.

The problem is that budgeting tells you about last month, and the question keeping you up is about the next twenty years. Can I retire at 62, or do I need to work to 67? Am I actually ahead, or does it just feel that way because the checking account looks fine?

Spreadsheets that answer that question usually cost you a financial planner's hourly rate. This one is a $47 download you own forever.

What's inside

Eight interlinked tabs, all wired together:

  • Net worth tracking — assets and liabilities, year over year, so you see the trend and not just today's snapshot
  • Sinking funds — every irregular expense (car registration, Christmas, the roof) funded on purpose instead of by surprise
  • Investment tracking — balances and contributions rolling into the bigger picture
  • Monthly profit and loss — what actually came in, what actually went out, month by month
  • Age factor and retirement projection — what you'd need at 60, 62, 65, 67, and 70, and what postponing by twelve months costs you
  • Live dashboard — pulls from every other tab automatically. Nothing here is typed in.

How it's built

Yellow cells are yours to fill in. Everything else calculates. Cross-sheet formulas mean you enter your mortgage balance once, not four times. Conditional formatting flags what's off-track before it becomes a problem. Built in Excel with no add-ins, no subscriptions, and no account to create.

What you get

  • The Financial Ecosystem Tracker workbook (.xlsx)
  • A quick-start guide covering the cells to fill in first

Honest notes

The retirement benchmarks in this workbook are widely circulated rules of thumb, not regulations and not advice specific to your situation — which is exactly why they sit in yellow cells you can overwrite. They assume a conventional career arc. They say nothing about a paid-off house, a pension, a business, or an inheritance. Falling short of a line on a chart is information, not a verdict.

This is a tool, not financial advice. You'll need Excel (or a version of Sheets that handles cross-sheet formulas) and about thirty minutes to set it up. After that it's ten minutes a month.
