A couple of years ago I made my Tumbling Spools quilt for Quilt Now magazine. I decided I wanted to redesign it before releasing it as a pattern. I wanted it to be smaller so it would be perfect for most people’s craft rooms. I also wanted to make it a bit more interesting! So, say hello to the Tumbling Spools Sampler Mini Quilt.
This super cute mini quilt finishes up at about 22x32 inches and will cheer up your crafty space! It features a stack of spool blocks on the left that appear to be tumbling down. To the right are words relating to quilting: Cut; Stitch; Baste; Quilt; Bind; & Repeat.
The blocks are foundation paper pieced. You can choose to make up the six different sampler blocks if you like, where the centre of each block is a different pattern. But there are also patterns where the centres are plain so you can fussy cut your favourite fabrics instead. The lattern option is a simpler option better for those just beginning with FPP.
There are also two options when it comes to the words. Quilt them in place. Or appliqué them. Totally up to you. Templates and instructions for both are included.
Why not make a Mini Mini and just make one quilt and one word!
