Composer: Alannah Marie Halay (2013)

FULL SCORE, SAMPLES FOR ELECTRONICS AS .WAV FILES

Instrumentation

Percussion

Piano (doubling Sampler)

Organ (doubling Sampler)

Optional sound engineer

Percussion: tubular bells and 2x hand bell; 2x tubular bells mallet; 4x medium-headed beater; 1 x wire brush; 1 x paint roller

Piano: the piano lid should be open or removed; the pianist requires a sampler which must be situated near them so that

they can move between piano and sampler easily. The pianist also requires 7 weights small and heavy enough to depress

sampler keys.

Organ: The requested organ stops are ideal sounds desired by the composer; however, due to the variation in

organ styles (and stops available), the organist is permitted to employ stops of similar effect to the ones requested

(should the required stops be absent). It does not have to be a pipe organ, if one is not available; although, pipe organ is

preferred.

In the score, examples of other potential stops are given where appropriate (for example, Medi[t/c]ation III , bar 1 );

however, the organist is not restricted to these examples, and is free to use other stops if convenient.

The organist also requires a sampler which must be situated near them so that they can move between organ

and sampler easily.

The organist requires 20 weights small and heavy enough to depress manual and sampler keys

Sampler: both the pianist’s sampler and the organist’s sampler must be programmed in the same way.

The sound samples are included on an accompanying CD, their file names correspond with the sampler

key they must be assigned to (for example, sample ‘B4’ must be assigned to B4 on the sampler, and so on).

The samples must be distributed through three loudspeakers, represented by the numbered boxes in the performance

layout (page 3). An additional person with the role of ‘sound engineer’ can be used to operate the distribution of samples

through the three loudspeakers if this is preferred. Further information is included under the performance layout

diagram on the following page, and in the accompanying CD cover, which may be in the form of a digital png file if you

obtained this score post 2014.
