Numbers Patterns and Logic-Informal Math Grade 1 CAPs ACompatible

This unit is in US English and so is compatible with most educaitonal situations internationally, although based on CAPs.

The South African Education system has been evolving for over two decades and has culminated in what is referred to as "CAPs Curriculum". This workbook is compatible with the "learning outcomes" based CAPs Curriculum, although the exercises are slightly more advanced than those prescribed by the Department of Basic Education.

In this unit, I have covered all the basic requirements for this age group in this category, and have included additional exercises, which I am hoping will slightly challenge the younger learner.

Included are the Learning Outcomes which we will achieve, as well as the prescribed Assessment Standards in order to monitor the progress of your student.

Learning Outcomes -

NUMBERS, OPERATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS
The learner is able to recognize, describe and represent numbers and their relationships, and counts, estimates, calculates and checks with competence and confidence in solving problems.

PATTERN FUNCTIONS AND ALGEBRA
The learner is able to recognize, describe and represent patterns and relationships, and solve problems using algebraic language and skills.

SPACE & SHAPE
The learner is able to recognize, describe and represent numbers and their relationships, and counts, estimates, calculates and checks with competence and confidence in solving problems.

MEASUREMENT
The learner is able to use appropriate measuring units, instruments and formulae in a variety of contexts.

DATA HANDLING
Learner will be able to collect, summarize, display & critically analyze data to draw conclusions and make predictions, and to interpret and determine chance variations.
