This album is a companion to the play, by the same name, featuring 13 tracks that bring the story to life. The title track, Anthem of Mateship, is, without question, the best piece of music I’ve ever written, performed, and recorded. I’ll go on record and say I’ll never surpass it—and that’s fine by me. This track embodies everything I’ve ever wanted to express: our Aussie spirit, our resilience, and our undeniable love for this land and its people.

The songs aren’t just music; they’re a soundtrack to the story, weaving the emotions and themes into an unforgettable experience. Whether you read along with the play or just let the music wash over you, you’ll feel the power of what we’re trying to achieve.

What Is Anthem of Mateship (The Play) All About?

At its core, Anthem of Mateship is about relationships: the mates we cherish, the bonds that hold us together, and the cracks that form when trust is betrayed. It’s set against the backdrop of Australia in 2024, a nation at a crossroads, grappling with the aftermath of lockdowns and the lingering specter of authoritarian overreach.

The play, written in five acts, follows Jacko, an everyman with a heart full of conviction and a voice crying out for justice. Jacko tries to rally his friends and neighbors to see the truth about government overreach and the erosion of freedoms, only to face isolation and ridicule. His journey, however, is one of resilience, and by the final act, his message of mateship and accountability inspires hope in those willing to listen.

But this is not just a story—it’s a call to action. We need answers, and we need them now. That’s why I’m using this platform to echo the play’s resounding call for a Royal Commission into the handling of COVID-19 and the lockdowns in Australia. We deserve the truth.
