A young couple, Joe and Mary, who grew up in Hungary under a communist regime, decided to leave their homeland. They could not leave legally, so they crossed the Iron Curtain illegally.

The whole adventure started at Budapest's Southern Train Station.

They soon crossed the Hungarian border and arrived in Zagreb, Croatia.

Soon, they arrived at Rijeka station, their destination points on that train.

They were even more tired when they arrived at Koper, Slovenia.

They started walking along a dirt road, which headed to the village of Socerb.

"That's the way to go through the border," said Joe, pointing his finger at the dense forest.

That forest was very dense, and the bushes were full of thorns.

They were exhausted after that adventure of going through the forest.

They took the bus and headed to downtown Trieste.

They get directions from the people to the nearest police station where they applied for asylum.
