Unhooked: The 7-Day Jaw & Cranial Protocol
Stop Managing Your Clench. Unhook It.
Stop Managing Your Clench. Unhook It.
If you have chronic tension in the jaw and head, you wake up with sore teeth, a tight jaw, and a dull ache wrapping your temples, your body is doing exactly what it was trained to do.
You have probably been told to wear a nightguard, stop being stressed, or try facial massage. A nightguard gives your teeth something to bite down on while the muscles continue to fire. Surface rubbing touches the skin but not the tissue beneath it.
Your jaw does not clench because it is weak or misbehaving. It clenches because it has learned to. The brace, the bite, the held composure, over time that activation consolidates as dense, tight tissue across the jaw, temples and base of the skull.
To change the pattern you do not force the muscle to relax.
You release the tension from the bone and give the nervous system a different signal.
This is not facial yoga and it is not generic stretching.
Created by integrative health practitioner Marie Loftus, this protocol draws on fourteen years of clinical bodywork and somatic muscle release.
Each day targets one specific holding zone, working step by step through the jaw, skull base, temples, deep cheek tissue and scalp before integrating everything into a daily maintenance routine.
Five to seven minutes each day. Seated comfortably, following Marie on video.
Day 1: Unhooking the Lower Jaw
Start at the front door of the clench pattern. Release the outer jawline and create space between the upper and lower teeth.
Day 2: Releasing the Base of the Skull
The jaw cannot fully let go if the back of the head is locked. Release the suboccipital muscles to ease eye strain, quiet headaches and support nervous system regulation.
Day 3: The Temple and Headache Release
The muscle that drives the bite fans across the sides of the head. Release the temples to dissolve the vice grip around the forehead.
Day 4: Releasing the Night Clench
Work deep under the cheekbones where chronic clenching consolidates into dense tissue. Use the weight of the head and gravity to release joint pressure without straining the hands.
Day 5: The Headband of Tension
Release the tissue wrapping the crown of the head through gentle shearing movements and upward lift.
Day 6: Releasing the Chin and Mouth
Soften the dense tissue at the corners of the mouth and use gentle resistance to quiet the bite reflex.
Day 7: The Daily Reset Circuit
Connect every release into one seamless six minute routine you can return to anytime.
7 guided video lessons of five to seven minutes each, hosted privately and accessible on any device.
Instant lifetime access, return to individual days or repeat the full protocol whenever tension returns.
Simple clear hand placements so you know with confidence that you are working in the right area.
Who This Is For
People who carry tension in their jaw, head, neck and shoulders.
Anyone who wakes up with morning jaw soreness, facial tightness or teeth marks on their tongue or feels their nightguard manages symptoms without addressing what's driving them.
Anyone who experiences tension headaches behind the eyes, across the forehead or at the base of the skull.

How long does each session take?
Five to seven minutes. Designed to fit into a morning or evening routine.
Do I need any equipment?
None. Just your hands, a comfortable seat and a few quiet minutes.
Is this safe if I have a clicky jaw or TMJ?
These techniques use gentle precise movements focused on softening tissue around the bone. Joints are never forced or manipulated aggressively. Listen to your body, stop if anything feels sharp and consult your healthcare provider if you have active joint issues.
Will this help with night clenching?
Night clenching is often connected to daytime tension patterns and nervous system activation. This protocol addresses both through systematic release and regulation work. Many people notice changes in how their jaw feels in the morning. Results vary from person to person.
How long do I have access?
Lifetime access. Return to individual days or the full protocol whenever you need it.
