A little bit fancy, a little bit understated: Vantage’s twisted stitch top border and purl ridge body make me think of the view out over the sea at the Gulf Islands. Worked in soft, springy Mohonk Light, these stitch patterns let Jill Draper’s subtle colour variations shine.
Vantage includes both charted and written instructions. The pattern also includes instructions for working the 2-stitch cables without a cable needle. To make this shawl, you will need to know how to knit, purl, and slip stitches, and either be comfortable with working 2-stitch cables and increases or be open to trying new techniques with some guidance.
Finished Measurements
72 in/183 cm long; 19.75 in/50 cm deep from top to point; 26 in/66 cm along wide end (see schematic); length adjustable.

Jill Draper Makes Stuff Mohonk Light (100% Lamb’s Wool; 550 yds/503 m per approx. 4 oz/113g); 2 skeins (shown in Brickyard)
Sample used most of 2 skeins; if you wish to make a larger shawl, you will need another skein.
Needles
US 4/3.5 mm needles for working flat: recommend 14 in/35 cm straight or 24 in/60 cm (or longer) circular needle, or size needed for correct gauge
US 3/3.25 mm needles for working flat, same length as above (or one size smaller than gauge needle)
Gauge
24 sts & 41 rows = 4 in/10 cm in purl ridge stitch pattern
24 sts & 38 rows = 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch
Gauges are in the stitch patterns worked flat and blocked. Exact gauge is not essential, but differences in gauge will affect size and yarn requirements. See Pattern Notes for more information about gauge.

Mohonk Light is a soft, springy, woolen-spun, 2-ply, fingering weight yarn made of lamb’s wool. The airy, woolen-spun structure and the crimpiness of the wool means that you get a lot of yardage by weight, and that this yarn can be knit at a wide variety of gauges. If substituting yarns for this project, look for a soft yarn in a fingering to sport weight with good memory and stitch definition that gives you a fabric you like at the pattern’s gauge. You will need approximately 1100 yds/1006 m.
