405. assignment (gravitational acceleration - lab report)
Last year, I did experiment to get a value for g, the acceleration due to gravity.
The idea was to time a ball bearing rolling down an inclined plane. You can then calculate the acceleration for an incline at this angle, and hence get a value for g.
A schematic of the ramp is shown:
The measured values were:
L=2.00 m and H=6.10 cm
For the ramp we used V shaped aluminum channel. Here is a schematic of a cross section of the ball in the channel:
Where D=30.00 mm and d= 22.20 mm
