The purpose of the teaching is to lead someone to truth so the teachings are given at different levels to suit the needs of the seeker.

The analogy of the burnt rope - Bhagavan said the ego of the jnani is like a burnt rope, it may appear that they are doing things in the world. This is a lower teaching to help the seeker accept the situation.

We are not the body, Ramana is not the body. Body practices are ego based and are not liberating ultimately, although they can be very helpful.
