THE WEALTH - an epic Viking YA "Coming of Age" novel by Richard Marman

A Viking Epic an exceptional Viking Coming of Age novel. Out hunting near home teenager Henry discovers strange amulets on the bodies of two warriors killed by a "wolf pack" of roving raiders. He recognises the markings belong to raiders called Starkmen who use them as their wealth and currency. After an attack Ayla and Macayle are kidnapped and the rescue chase is on.........

The Starkmen form an alliance with Hollowford’s arch enemy Olag Blackaxe and his horde. A battle ensues and the Hollowford militia defeat Blackaxe, but Ayla and Macayle, wife and daughter of the chief, Gareth, are kidnapped and carried off in Starkmen wolf-ships. High adventure follows with Gareth giving chase overland and Henry plans a seaborne chase to find Ayla. A hair-raising pursuit ensues. They are challenged by enemies aplenty, miraculously they overcome.  

Ultimately our heroes face a seemingly unconquerable foe at the gates of a foreign city.  With no special skills, Henry must undergo a right-of-passage with only his wits, courage and determination as armour. Will Henry survive this cruel realm which makes no concessions to youth? When all seems doomed, help arrives from a surprising source.
